SLC6A1 is a gene encoding the protein solute carrier family 2, member 1, also called GABA transporter 1 (GAT1). This protein removes excess amounts of the neurotransmitter GABA from the space between neurons and recycles it for future use. The effects of specific mutations in SLC6A1 can be difficult to determine because they are not easily measured in cellular models.

Providing modelling and drug screening services for SLC6A1 can be a complex process. For this reason, we may be limited in our abilities to provide research services for mutations in this gene at this time. Please contact us with interests and inquiries.
